A grant tracker in Google Sheets
What a good grant tracker holds, and how to keep it up to date without extra work.
What to track
Most small nonprofits start with one row per grant. That works until reports and renewals pile up. A tracker that holds up over years separates three things:
- Grants: one row per opportunity, with funder, program, stage, amounts, probability and key dates.
- Deadlines: every LOI, application, interim and final report, renewal and site visit, each linked to its grant.
- Funders and payments: who you work with and the money still to come in.
The hard part is the upkeep
A spreadsheet only helps if someone looks at it. Deadlines are missed when the tracker lives in a tab nobody opens on a busy week. Two things fix that: an email that arrives when something is due, and the deadlines in the calendar people already use.
A ready-made tracker
Tidyfield Grant Tracker is a Google Sheet with those tabs built in, plus a sidebar for adding grants and deadlines, a daily reminder email, a shared Google Calendar of open deadlines, report schedules in one click and a dashboard of your pipeline and win rate. Your data stays in your Google account.
